The following services and permits are available from the Murray County Sheriff's Department. Information about each item is provided below. If you have further questions regarding any listed services or permits, please contact the Law Enforcement Center at 507-836-6168.

Burn Permits
Burn Permits are issued to rural county residents free of charge. To obtain a permit, please come to the Law Enforcement Center at the Government Center, Slayton, MN.
It is very important to call in BEFORE and AFTER you burn!

Gun Locks
Free Gun Locks are available at the Law Enforcement Center until supplies run out.

Permits to Purchase Firearms
Applications for Permits to Purchase a Firearm are available at the Law Enforcement Center.

Permits to Carry
Applications for Permits to Carry a Concealed Weapon are available at the Law Enforcement Center. Proof of attending a certification training is needed, along with a photo ID. The cost of a Carry Permit is $100.00 payable at time of application.

Welcome to the Lakes Area Citizen Corps of Murray County 
 
A component of the President’s USA Freedom Corps, Citizen Corps creates opportunities for individuals to volunteer in their local community. The Lakes Area Citizen Corps is a way to get people involved in our community and make Lake Shetek and Lake Sarah safer, stronger, and better prepared to respond to all types of disasters. Citizen Corps is about engaging individuals through education, training, and volunteer service.

The Murray County Emergency Management serves as the host agency for the our Citizen Corps. Through this partnership, the associated Citizen Corps programs, such as the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program, Neighborhood Watch, Medical Reserve Corps provide important training and skill development opportunities for all citizens, businesses, and community groups on emergency preparedness and public safety.
